Apropå

Overview:
Web design and development for Apropå, a Geneva-based interior architecture studio led by Valentine Maeder and Manon Portera. Their practice takes a sustainable and frugal approach, working with existing resources, material reuse and natural light.
The website was conceived as a clear and flexible framework for their work, allowing each project to unfold from process to outcome through images, plans, data and documentation.

Challenges:

Structuring each project so that Apropå’s reuse-driven process is as clearly communicated as the finished spaces.

Spaces, materials and processes from Apropå’s practice

An interactive navigation introduces the studio’s approach to sustainable design and material reuse, using key concepts to reveal the thinking behind its work.

A filterable project index reveals the diversity of Apropå’s work, from different spaces to different scales of intervention, all guided by a shared design approach.

Each project unfolds from its initial context to its final  final transformation, revealing the decisions, materials and processes that shape the outcome.

A flexible editorial layout combining architectural drawings, photography, lighting studies and material reuse data, alongside before-and-after comparisons that reveal how reclaimed materials are transformed and given a new purpose.

The About page structures the studio’s practice into distinct sections, from its services and working process to its values, commitments and collaborations.

The Archive page brings together press coverage and the studio’s past and current projects in two distinct sections, offering a broader perspective on its work and evolution.

The responsive design adapts the site’s layouts and interactions to smaller screens, preserving its editorial character across devices.
